Food Review: Milestones Bar + Grill Yonge and Dundas

header_logoWe used to frequent Milestones Grill + Bar simply for their delicious Spinach and Artichoke dip and of course the delectable Bellini’s but we stopped after several failed dinners of poor service and sub par food. Recently, we visited the Y&D location for dinner prior to a show at the Ed Mirvish Theatre. That was a miserable experience for us all.

The service was abysmal at best and the food leaving the kitchen was pathetic. Granted we had 2 late comers, but they ordered only appetizers and yet these items took close to an hour to arrive. The server we had was unapologetic and simply didn’t care about our plight, but did kindly suggest that we take the appys to go despite knowing that we were attending a play and couldn’t bring food in. Needless to say, after such deplorable service we took to Twitter to voice our displeasure.

Bbze6UAIIAAMsVpWe got an immediate response from the owner, who encouraged us to give them another chance and they would make it up to us. Last night, we went back with great trepidation. It was our annual Girl’s Christmas Dinner and it just happened to land on date night at Milestones.

Immediately we noticed a marked difference. The manager that night, Mike, promptly came over to greet us before introducing our server Brandon (whom we now love) and settled us in to what turned out to be one of the best girl’s nights we’ve had in a while. Never once did they rush us in ordering, despite it being dinner hour and quite busy. Mike came over several times to check on us but it was never intrusive. Brandon ensured that Veronica’s water glass was never empty and Ashley’s always had wine.

BbzbadqIcAArGZxIt’s funny how food just seems to taste better when the service is top notch. We all enjoyed our entrees and our friend’s steaks were cooked to perfection. For once we had absolutely no complaints about the food or service. This experience has definitely changed our minds about a chain like Milestones and we won’t be hesitant about having more long winded dinners here.

Brandon understood that not only was this night important to us as it was our Christmas dinner but that we were using it as a pow-wow to plan Veronica’s baby shower. We appreciate the fact that Milestones and their great staff allowed us their time and valuable space during the busy Holiday season.

Kudos to Brandon and Mike for making our night enjoyable and erasing that unfortunate visit back in November.
