Book Review: Shadow Study
veronica | Reunited and it feels so good! It seems like ages since we last had Yelena and Valek, but they’re back in Shadow Study and because it was Maria Snyder, I knew I was going to love it. And besides, it’s about Yelena and Valek! How could it be bad?
Things are a calm in Ixia and Sitia, it’s 6 years since we last saw Yelena and on a rare break she gets to spend a few days with Valek. But being a soulfinder means that everyone wants to be you or wants you dead.
It has been a while since I last read the Study books and I still feel the same about them but this was a bit too jumpy for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ari and Janco and I believe they are strong enough characters to have a spin off series, I just don’t necessarily think they should take up so much Yelena and Valek time.
I might be one of the few people who figured out what was wrong with Yelena and the cause of her troubles from the get go but I’m sure I’m not the only one who rolled their eyes.
Snyder’s fantasy world is and always will be a great escape for me. Any time I read one of her novels, I’m instantly transported into another world, one that I never want to leave. Call me a booknerd but I much prefer the company of these characters to the ones I ride the subway with.
P.S. Shadow Study just came out, can’t wait to read it!
