Book Review: The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Untitled-1

veronica | Let me start off with a confession here: I had previously read the first two installments of the Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin in 2012. When it came time to finish off the series, I thought I had picked up the 3rd installment, The Retribution of Mara Dyer but it was the second book again and I didn’t realize until the very last chapter. Oops. Not a good start to finish off this series!

I remember how refreshing a YA read the first Mara Dyer was and how eagerly I anticipated each installment. But this one? I felt pretty let down from the get go. Sure, some of it was my own doing and for letting so much time pass. After reading it – it took me a very long time to finish – I was stupefied as what it was I had just finished.

I really don’t understand how an entire book could be written about someone making insane decisions and everyone around her just going along with it. I was expecting something similar to the previous two books where I questioned what was real and what was not. This one was rushed yet it meandered in a way that annoyed me while not answering anything at all.
