Book Review: The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
veronica | Let me start this off with “I’m a grown ass woman who shouldn’t be reading such tweeny books”. Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker had such an interesting premise and promising story line, but the literary carnal sin was committed by Virginia Boecker – a needless, idiotic and oh so juvenile love triangle.
I was intrigued by the comparison to Game of Thrones but there was zero comparison, they are not the same nor similar. The With Hunter could’ve stood alone without that bit on nonsense.
We meet Elizabeth, an orphan taken in and trained to be a secret witch hunter for the crown, but what she didn’t know and was clearly too stupid to know, is that she was also an assassin. Whose job was to off the king, instead, she submits to his advances. Worst witch hunter/assassin ever.
Though The Witch Hunter did get better as we got to know the characters a bit more but by that time I no longer cared. Which is unfortunate as it held such promise.
